One yak. Three jobs.

Chat

Talk to any model on your machine. Attach files and images, dictate, branch a conversation when it forks. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Work

Point it at a project folder. It runs commands, edits files and reads the web until the job is done, and shows you anything destructive before it runs.

Grazing

Schedule a job and OddYak does it while you are away. Anything it is not cleared to do waits for your OK. On your own hardware, long runs cost nothing.

The Herd

Will it run on my computer?

Choosing a model is the part people get wrong. The Herd reads your machine and tells you which models will actually run, how fast, and how much memory each will take. Then it downloads and runs your pick in one click. GGUF or MLX.

  • Qwen3 8B MLX · 4-bitRuns well
  • Gemma 3 27B GGUF · Q4_K_MTight fit
  • Llama 3.3 70B GGUF · Q4_K_MWon't fit this Mac

An illustration for a Mac with 36 GB of memory. Your list is built from your own hardware.

Who does OddYak talk to?

This is the whole list. Everything else stays on your computer, and it keeps working with the network off.

GitHub, once a day

A release check. Sends nothing, downloads nothing.

Hugging Face

Only when you fetch a model.

Web search

Only when you ask for it.

“Why not just use…”

…a cloud chatbot?

With OddYak your work never leaves the building, you pay nothing per month, and what you write is never anyone's training data. Need a frontier model for one job? Connect one. Local stays the default.

…a local model runner?

OddYak tells you what will run on your machine before you download it. Then the same app goes on to do real work with the model.

…a terminal coding agent?

Same kind of agent, ordinary window. It shows you every destructive command before it runs, in full, and remembers what you have already approved.

Pick your pasture.
